A sampling of locations, hotels and other links for Out-of-Towners 1/

Jump start your planning for where to stay during the Celbration 

As Classmates living outside the Greater Detroit area know, Grosse Pointe does not really have hotels in which to stay during GPHS reunions.  Here are three approaches for lodging in surrounding areas: (1) hotels in suburbs of Detroit; (2) lodging in and near GP through VRBO, airbnb and other such sites; and (3) Downtown Detroit hotels.

Suburban hotels -There are numerous hotels in Roseville, Warren and Sterling Heights, with travel times to the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, for instance, of 15-30 minutes. For example:

• Hampton Inn in Roseville and Warren;
• Holiday Inn/Express in Roseville, Warren and Sterling Heights;
• Courtyard by Marriott in Warren; and
• Staybridge Suites in Sterling Heights

These can be found and reservations made directly or via travel sites like Expedia.com. They are typically less expensive than downtown Detroit hotels.

VRBO, airbnb and the like - There are quite a few accommodations on VRBO and airbnb that are listed as being in Grosse Pointe (addresses not given on the web site overviews). These range from lofts to apartments to full houses, and prices vary accordingly.  These may well be worth a look and you can do so by clicking here at VRBO and airbnb

Downtown Detroit hotels: - These, too, can be found via websites like Expedia.com. and Google Maps.  They typically have more amenities than the smaller suburban hotels, but are likely to be somewhat more expensive.  Here are a few in the Woodward Avenue area near the Detroit River - 

• The Doubletree Suites by Hilton Hotel Downtown – Fort Shelby
• The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit
• The Fort Pontchartrain a Wyndham Hotel
